The objective of the Nursery 1 to Kindergarten 2 program is to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience that lays a strong foundation in Chinese language skills. By focusing on PinYin learning, literacy and writing, creative expression, and grammar instruction through stories, the program aims to foster language development, vocabulary acquisition, and communication skills in young learners.

 

  • PinYin Learning: The program aims to introduce young learners to the basics of PinYin, the phonetic system used to transcribe Chinese characters into Romanized script. Through interactive activities and exercises, children will develop their pronunciation skills and become familiar with the PinYin system.
  • Literacy & Writing: The program focuses on building a strong foundation in Chinese literacy and writing. Children will learn to recognize and write basic Chinese characters, gradually expanding their vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. Emphasis is placed on stroke order, character structure, and forming a solid understanding of Chinese characters.
  • Creative Expression: The program encourages children to express themselves creatively in Chinese. Through various activities such as storytelling, role-playing, and art projects, children will enhance their language skills, expand their vocabulary, and develop their imagination and confidence in using Chinese.
  • Learn Grammar through the Stories: The program incorporates storytelling as a means to teach grammar and language structures. Engaging stories and narratives are used to introduce and reinforce grammar concepts, enabling children to grasp language rules and patterns naturally and in context.

P1 – P6

The objective of the Primary 1 – Primary 6 program is to provide a comprehensive and structured learning experience that strengthens students’ Chinese language skills. Through a combination of character recognition, PinYin consolidation, listening comprehension, oral practices, video-based discussions, picture expression, creative writing, comprehension exercises, mock examinations, and PSLE exam preparation, the program aims to enhance students’ language proficiency, critical thinking abilities, and overall success in Chinese language learning and examination performance.

 

  • Chinese Characters Recognition & PinYin Consolidation: The program aims to enhance students’ ability to recognize and understand Chinese characters. Through interactive exercises and drills, students will consolidate their knowledge of PinYin and develop a solid foundation in Chinese character recognition.
  • Listening Comprehension: The program focuses on improving students’ listening skills in Chinese. Various audio materials, including dialogues and passages, are used to train students’ ability to comprehend and understand spoken Chinese.
  • Oral Practices: The program provides ample opportunities for students to practice and improve their oral proficiency in Chinese. Through guided conversations, discussions, and presentations, students will enhance their speaking skills, fluency, and confidence in expressing themselves in Chinese.
  • Video-based Discussion: Engaging videos are used as a platform for students to discuss and analyze various topics in Chinese. This approach not only improves listening skills but also promotes critical thinking, communication, and cultural understanding.
  • Picture Expression: Students are encouraged to express their ideas and thoughts using visual aids such as pictures and images. This activity promotes creativity, language development, and the ability to articulate ideas effectively.
  • Creative Writing: The program aims to develop students’ creative writing skills in Chinese. Students will be guided in brainstorming ideas, organizing their thoughts, and writing coherent and expressive compositions.
  • Comprehension Exercises: Students will practice and improve their reading comprehension skills through a variety of texts and exercises. This includes analyzing and understanding the content, identifying key information, and answering comprehension questions.
  • Mock Examination: Regular mock examinations are conducted to familiarize students with the examination format, time management, and to assess their progress. This helps students build confidence and readiness for actual examinations.
  • PSLE Exam Preparation: The program provides focused preparation for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) in Chinese. Students will receive comprehensive review materials, exam strategies, and targeted practice to ensure they are well-prepared for the PSLE.

S1 – S4

Duration: 2hrs

Age Level: 13 to 16 years old

Class Size: 6 – 8

The objective of the Secondary 1 – Secondary 4 program is to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience that enhances students’ language proficiency, critical thinking skills, and cultural understanding. By emphasizing comprehension and application, news and topics, literature appreciation, and topic-based writing, the program prepares students for effective communication, academic success, and a deeper appreciation of the Chinese language and culture.

 

  • Comprehension & Application: The program aims to strengthen students’ reading comprehension skills and their ability to apply their understanding to various contexts. Students will practice analyzing and interpreting texts, identifying main ideas, drawing inferences, and making connections.

  • News & Topics: The program focuses on developing students’ awareness and understanding of current news and relevant topics. Through discussions, readings, and analysis of news articles, students will enhance their language proficiency, critical thinking, and knowledge of contemporary issues.

  • Literature Appreciation: The program introduces students to Chinese literary works, fostering an appreciation for Chinese literature and language. Students will explore different genres, analyze literary techniques, and engage in discussions to deepen their understanding and interpretation of literary texts.

  • Topic-based Writing: The program aims to improve students’ writing skills by focusing on various topics and genres. Students will learn effective writing techniques, such as organizing ideas, using appropriate vocabulary and expressions, and developing coherent and well-structured compositions.

How many students are there in the class?

In order to facilitate an optimal learning experience, our teaching approach emphasizes small class sizes, ensuring a limited number of students ranging from 6 to 8 per class.

How many make-up lessons will be offered if my child misses a scheduled lesson?

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we aim to accommodate such situations. We allow for up to 2-3 make-up sessions per term, where we can reschedule the missed lessons.
